What is up, people? It's been awhile and a lot has happened since last I wrote. Another great semester at BYU Idaho came to a welcome close, student teaching and senior recitals are steadily approaching, and with the help of family and friends I was able to come to stay with my parents in Brazil! It's pretty amazing that I was able to come back after picking Nick up from his mission... I kinda figured that that was going to be my last and biggest trip before I became a teacher, but ,as always, life is full of suprises.
It's beautiful here! Since it's Summer here everything is bright and just about everything that grows out of the ground has flowers on it. The Brazilian people are so kind - and they're very patient with me whenever I try to stutter something out in Portuguese :) Mom and I study language together about every other day, and while understanding what people are saying has proven better than I thought it would be, I'm still struggling with remembering how to say things - but I guess I shouldn't expect to be fluent in three weeks, eh?
Other than helping out and being the comic relief, I'm just enjoying the time off. I brought along 5 books to read while I was here that I hadn't been able to touch since June, but those got finished in the first week, lol. I found "Jesus, The Christ" in the bookshelves here, however, and am enjoying it very much. I don't know why I hadn't read it yet - it's right up my alley. ah well.
I've also had a lot more time to work on writing music, and I'm feeling pretty excited about some of the stuff I've been working on lately - maybe I'll post something when they're sounding pretty good. I've also been exploring some "extended techniques" (beatboxing, whistle tones, key clicks, etc) with my flute playing for my upcoming recital and been having a lot of fun with that. Beat boxing on the flute takes a ridiculous amount of air, but if I stick with it for about a hundred years, maybe I'll be able to jam with this guy:
Jinkies.
Later, skaters.

I guess you should have taken more books! Although "Jesus, The Christ" will probably keep your thoughts occupied for um, the rest of your life! It's a wonderful book. Josh and I are reading it this year as our family goal! I have read the first 10 chapters two or three times but somehow I can never continue. This year I am going to read it from start to finish, instead of skipping ahead and using it for research!
I am glad you're having fun there in Brazil! You should try to post some pictures of all the blooming flowers! I bet they are beautiful!
This is Josh!
I want to comment too. It's so nice to hear the sound of your bloggy voice again. I can't believe that you only had 5 books out of that 300 some odd pounds of luggage. What was the rest? Neighbor gifts of bricks?
You are great, keep up the muytoe bang work!
